Swimming is an essential part of the camp experience at JCC Abrams Camps! Campers swim twice a day, with:
🏊 Instructional Swim – A structured lesson led by our swim instructors to build confidence and improve skills. 🌊 Free Swim – A fun, supervised swim session where campers can cool off and enjoy the water with friends.
Our swim program is designed to help campers progress at their own pace while having fun!

Our instructional swim program follows a structured approach to help campers become stronger, more confident swimmers.
👨🏫 Lessons are led by swim instructors who tailor lessons to each camper’s ability. 🌊 Campers are grouped by skill level to ensure they receive the right level of support and challenge. 🏆 Focus on water safety, technique, and skill-building in a positive, encouraging environment.
Whether a camper is just starting or already a strong swimmer, our program helps them improve their skills and feel comfortable in the water!

Camper safety is our #1 priority, especially around water. Our comprehensive safety measures include:
👀 Certified lifeguards on duty at all times – Our highly trained lifeguards are constantly monitoring the pool.
✅ Swim evaluations at the start of camp – Campers are assessed on the first day to determine their swim level.
🏊 Swim bands for safety – Campers wear color-coded swim bands based on their skill level, ensuring they stay in the appropriate swim areas.
📢 Strict supervision ratios – Our staff-to-camper ratios in the pool exceed safety standards.
🛟 Emergency readiness training – Lifeguards are trained in first aid, CPR, and water rescue techniques.
We make sure all campers feel safe, comfortable, and confident in the water while having an amazing time!

No worries! We have campers at all swim levels, including beginners (even those who don't want to put their toes in!). If your child is new to swimming:
✅ They will be placed in an instructional swim group suited to their skill level. ✅ Certified swim instructors will guide them through a supportive, step-by-step learning process. ✅ Safety measures are in place to ensure they are comfortable and well-supervised at all times.
Our goal is to build confidence while making swimming a fun and positive experience!

Campers should bring the following items daily:
✔️ Swimsuit ✔️ Towel ✔️ Goggles (optional, please note: we do not allow goggles with nose coverings)
All swim items should be labeled with your camper’s name to avoid mix-ups!

Yes! We have designated shaded areas around the pool where campers can take breaks, reapply sunscreen, and cool off between swim sessions. Staff ensure that campers stay hydrated and get time in the shade as needed.

We understand that not every camper feels comfortable in the water right away. If your child is hesitant about swimming:
💙 Our instructors provide gentle encouragement and work with them at their own pace. 💙 Campers will never be forced to swim—our goal is to build trust and confidence. 💙 We offer gradual water introductions, allowing nervous swimmers to start by splashing in shallow areas before progressing.
Our supportive staff ensures that every camper feels safe, respected, and empowered in the water.

Yes! We have designated changing areas along the pool to ensure campers have privacy and a comfortable space to change before and after swim sessions.
👕 Private changing stalls are available for campers who prefer additional privacy. 👜 Cubby areas are provided for campers to store their belongings while swimming.
We encourage campers to wear their swimsuits under their clothes to make changing quicker and easier, but our facilities are available for those who need them!
