    From arrival to dismissal, here's what your child will experience each day at JCC Abrams Camps—fun, structure, and growth. what to EXPECT A typical DAY Each day is packed with adventure, creativity, and fun! Here's a snapshot of what the best day ever might look like: 9:00 am - Morning Arrival & Boker Tov . The day begins at the bunk benches where campers gather to say the pledge, sing the Hatikvah, learn the Hebrew Word of the Day, and get pumped for the day ahead. We also focus on the Campership Value of the Week, setting a positive tone for the day’s activities and reinforcing important values like teamwork, respect, and kindness. There's nothing like seeing your camp friends in the morning! Instructional Swim . We place a strong emphasis on swimming skills and water safety. Our Instructional Swim sessions are designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers. Each camper receives personalized attention, with experienced swim instructors providing guidance and support to help them improve their technique, build confidence in the water, and understand essential safety practices. Morning Snack ------- Campers enjoy a healthy morning snack to recharge for the rest of the day. This time is also an opportunity to rest, recharge, and prepare for the exciting activities ahead. This is always great time for a laugh. Activity Rotations ------- Sports: Soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, hockey, pickleball, volleyball, flag football, and gaga. Adventure: Rockwall, archery, ninja course, giant swing, and low ropes. Creative Arts: Music, dance, drama , cooking, makerspace, teva (science & nature), and arts & crafts. Lunch ----- A healthy, kid-friendly meal in our shaded picnic grove with their bunkmates. (Included in tuition!) Some of the best memories are formed around the lunch tables. Free Swim ------- During Free Swim, campers have the opportunity to enjoy a fun and refreshing swim in a safe, supervised environment. Our trained lifeguards are always on duty, and we ensure that swimming areas are clearly marked for different skill levels. Cannon ball! Electives & Imaginary Play ------- Our youngest campers spend time at the playground, reading stories, or having fun in our mud kitchen and play village. ------- As campers grow older, they have more opportunities to choose from a range of electives based on their personal interests. Whether it’s advanced sports, arts, games, or outdoor activities, electives allow campers to dive deeper into their favorite activities. Sweet Treat ------- Towards the end of the day, campers enjoy a fun, refreshing sweet treat to wind down and cool off. (Yes, every day!) End of Day - 4:00 pm ------- Reflect on the day’s adventures and prepare for tomorrow’s excitement! Campers go to their designated spots for parent pickup, busses, or aftercare. before & aftercare We know that many families need flexibility when it comes to drop-off and pickup times, so we offer both Before Care and After Care to ensure your child has a full, enriching camp experience, even outside of regular camp hours. Before Care Start the day early with Before Care, available from 7:30 AM . Your camper can ease into their day with light activities, playtime, and get ready for the fun ahead. After Care After Care provides a safe and fun environment until 6:00 PM (Monday-Thursday) and 5:00 PM on Fridays. Campers can unwind, enjoy additional activities, or relax before heading home. LUNCH & SNACK We’re committed to promoting healthy, sustainable living by offering a variety of satisfying meals that cater to even the most discerning appetites. Our thoughtfully crafted lunches and snacks are designed to keep campers energized and happy throughout their day. Delicious, Nutritious Options Each day, we serve child-friendly hot and cold lunch options, with a wide variety of meals available to accommodate even the pickiest eaters. We always offer alternative options, including a fresh salad bar, daily fruit selection, and more. Every dish is prepared with care, offering nutritious ingredients that fuel growth and energy. Hydration is Key We take hydration seriously at JCC Abrams Camps, providing fresh, ice-cold water throughout the day to keep campers energized and healthy. Camper safety is our top priority, and we’re happy to make any necessary adjustments to ensure a safe eating environment. Morning Snack Campers enjoy a variety of healthy snacks each morning to keep them energized and fueled for their activities. Afternoon Treat At the end of the day, campers enjoy fun, refreshing sweet treats like frozen goodies, offering a tasty way to wind down while staying balanced. weekly HIGHLIGHTS We create a fun, engaging rhythm to the summer with unique activities that bring excitement and joy to every week. Mitzvah Mondays We kick off the week with acts of kindness and community. Campers take part in projects and activities that inspire giving back and learning about the importance of mitzvot. It's a great way to start the week with a positive impact. Wacky Wednesdays Midweek fun takes a playful turn with Wacky Wednesdays! From silly costumes to wacky games, this day is all about creativity, laughter, and embracing the unexpected. Be prepared to get SILLY! Shabbat We close out the week with a special Shabbat celebration, bringing our camp community together through music, reflection, and gratitude. Campers take part in traditions that foster unity, joy, and a sense of belonging. They really enjoy the challah, too! Friday Fests We end the week with a bang! Friday Fests are all about celebrating everything we’ve accomplished. Campers enjoy themed activities, games, shows, and events, making it the perfect way to wrap up the week and gear up for the next. These are always unforgettable. special EVENTS Timeless camp traditions are the heart of our experience,with each summer bringing something new and exciting. Color War A beloved tradition since 1960, Color War is the ultimate test of team spirit and camp pride. Campers are divided into two legendary teams., the White Lions and the Blue Rams, and compete in a variety of challenges throughout the event. While the competition is fierce, the event always ends with the entire camp coming together as one, celebrating the spirit of teamwork, unity, and tradition that makes Color War an unforgettable part of the camp experience. Israeli Fair At our Israeli Fair, campers embark on a journey to Israel without leaving camp! Each camper boards their airplane (school bus), and arrives in a camp transformed into the land of Israel. With passports in hand, they travel through the country, experiencing Israeli culture firsthand. Highlights include sampling traditional foods, learning Israeli dances, shopping at the shuk, visiting the Western Wall, swimming in the Dead Sea, and even drumming in Bedouin tents. It's an immersive adventure that brings Israel to New Jersey! End of Summer Performance Our camp show is a fully realized, camp-wide production where every camper takes part in bringing a story to life. From day one, campers learn choreography, craft costumes, write scripts, and build props, working together as a cast and crew. As the summer progresses, they prepare for their big debut on the real stage, performing with confidence in a high-energy, professional-style show. Parents are invited to witness the final production at the end of the summer. Lights, camera, action! Cardboard Boat Race In one of our most creative and thrilling events, campers design and build their own boats using just cardboard and tape. Once the boats are ready, it's time for the counselors to take over and race across the water! Teams will cheer on their counselors as they paddle the handmade masterpieces, racing to see whose boat is the fastest and will survive the trek. This event combines teamwork, engineering, and fun, with plenty of laughs along the way. The winning team signs our Cardboard Boat trophy, a sought-after accolade summer after summer. Paint Your Counselor Contest In this fun and creative contest, campers get to showcase their artistic talents by painting their counselors! Each year, the designs are centered around a specific theme, and campers work together to come up with the most creative and imaginative designs. The finished masterpieces are judged by senior staff in front of a live audience, adding to the excitement. It’s all about embracing creativity, teamwork, and having lots of laughs along the way, with results that are always entertaining! Let's Move Championship The Let’s Move Championship is an exciting, bracketed competition where campers form teams and compete in a variety of sports and physical challenges throughout the summer. From soccer to relay races, each event brings campers together to give their best effort while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. As the summer progresses, the teams advance through the brackets, building excitement until the championship playoffs. Swimming is an essential part of the camp experience at JCC Abrams Camps! Campers swim twice a day , with: 🏊 Instructional Swim – A structured lesson led by our swim instructors to build confidence and improve skills. 🌊 Free Swim – A fun, supervised swim session where campers can cool off and enjoy the water with friends. Our swim program is designed to help campers progress at their own pace while having fun! 02 What is the instructional swim program like? Our instructional swim program follows a structured approach to help campers become stronger, more confident swimmers. 👨🏫 Lessons are led by swim instructors who tailor lessons to each camper’s ability. 🌊 Campers are grouped by skill level to ensure they receive the right level of support and challenge. 🏆 Focus on water safety, technique, and skill-building in a positive, encouraging environment. Whether a camper is just starting or already a strong swimmer, our program helps them improve their skills and feel comfortable in the water! 03 How do you ensure water safety? Camper safety is our #1 priority , especially around water. Our comprehensive safety measures include: 👀 Certified lifeguards on duty at all times – Our highly trained lifeguards are constantly monitoring the pool. ✅ Swim evaluations at the start of camp – Campers are assessed on the first day to determine their swim level. 🏊 Swim bands for safety – Campers wear color-coded swim bands based on their skill level, ensuring they stay in the appropriate swim areas. 📢 Strict supervision ratios – Our staff-to-camper ratios in the pool exceed safety standards. 🛟 Emergency readiness training – Lifeguards are trained in first aid, CPR, and water rescue techniques. We make sure all campers feel safe, comfortable, and confident in the water while having an amazing time! 04 What if my child doesn’t know how to swim? No worries! We have campers at all swim levels, including beginners (even those who don't want to put their toes in!). If your child is new to swimming: ✅ They will be placed in an instructional swim group suited to their skill level. ✅ Certified swim instructors will guide them through a supportive, step-by-step learning process. ✅ Safety measures are in place to ensure they are comfortable and well-supervised at all times. Our goal is to build confidence while making swimming a fun and positive experience! 05 What should my child bring for swim time? Campers should bring the following items daily: ✔️ Swimsuit ✔️ Towel ✔️ Goggles (optional, please note: we do not allow goggles with nose coverings) All swim items should be labeled with your camper’s name to avoid mix-ups! 06 Is there a shaded area by the pool? Yes! We have designated shaded areas around the pool where campers can take breaks, reapply sunscreen, and cool off between swim sessions. Staff ensure that campers stay hydrated and get time in the shade as needed. 07 What happens if my child is nervous or refuses to swim? We understand that not every camper feels comfortable in the water right away. If your child is hesitant about swimming: 💙 Our instructors provide gentle encouragement and work with them at their own pace. 💙 Campers will never be forced to swim —our goal is to build trust and confidence. 💙 We offer gradual water introductions , allowing nervous swimmers to start by splashing in shallow areas before progressing. Our supportive staff ensures that every camper feels safe, respected, and empowered in the water. 08 Are there changing areas for campers to use before and after swim? Yes! We have designated changing areas along the pool to ensure campers have privacy and a comfortable space to change before and after swim sessions. 👕 Private changing stalls are available for campers who prefer additional privacy. 👜 Cubby areas are provided for campers to store their belongings while swimming. We encourage campers to wear their swimsuits under their clothes to make changing quicker and easier, but our facilities are available for those who need them! Categories

While it serves as a reminder of past atrocities, it is also a symbol of resilience, faith, and vibrant Jewish life at the JCC PMB & Abrams Camps. Holocaust Children's Memorial Garden A Place of Memory, Reflection, and Hope Dedicated on May 19, 2019, by the Burkhoff family, the JCC Holocaust Remembrance Garden stands as a beacon of memory and hope. While it serves as a reminder of past atrocities, it is also a symbol of resilience, faith, and vibrant Jewish life at the JCC PMB & Abrams Camps. Surrounded by lush shrubbery, flowers, and carefully placed stones, the garden features a brick patio, handmade benches, and an open space for all to reflect, learn, and find peace. More than just a garden, this space is a place of education, reflection, and action, inspiring future Jewish leaders to live with kindness, speak out against hatred, and honor those who came before us. We invite all members of our community to visit and take part in this meaningful space. The Daffodil Project As part of the global Daffodil Project, we plant yellow daffodils each year to honor the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust and to support the fight against contemporary antisemitism and genocide. These flowers, resembling the yellow stars worn during the Holocaust, bloom each spring as a symbol of remembrance and resilience.
